Oscar Date with Dad
Oscar Throwback. The night I took my daddy to the Academy Awards. I love seeing stars bring their parents as their date to award shows. The Academy asked me to host their Official Pre-Show (I’ve hosted it 4 times) and this particular year, I flew Dad out from Detroit to be my date. He had the best time meeting the stars and posing next to the Oscar statues on the red carpet. Love you, Dad and miss you so much. ❤️ #oscars

What an amazing afternoon! 🎉 Thank you to all our friends of the S.H.A.U.N. Foundation for Girls who came out to support our 3rd Annual GUMBO, JAZZ & GOOD TIMES Fundraiser! Vanessa Bell Calloway, our amazing Advisory Board Member, hosted the event at her beautiful home - love you, so much, Vanessa!!🥰 Her husband Tony Calloway (and my Morehouse Brother) THREW DOWN on the Gumbo👨🏾🍳 assisted by their fabulous daughter (and my Spelman Sister) Ashley Calloway! 💙We had the most incredible auction and raffle items - Congratulations to all who walked away with prizes! 🏆 The real winners are the girls and young women who we can support through your generous donations! Jennifer Lucas
I am honored to announce that my dear friend, Jennifer Lucas, is joining the Advisory Board of the S.H.A.U.N. Foundation for Girls. Jennifer is a strong advocate for the empowerment of girls and young women and I’m thrilled that she is a special part of our mission! 💜 Read more about Jennifer below:
Jennifer Lucas is an Emmy award winning executive producer at Allen Media Group. Over the past 26 years, she has written and produced dozens of television shows across multiple genres. Her shows have been featured on NBC, CBS, broadcast television syndication and numerous cable networks including The Weather Channel. She is currently producing and developing scripts for Allen Media’s cable networks as well as the company’s feature film division and serves as executive producer on the comedy series Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen, Funny You Should Ask, and TheGrio Awards. Jennifer has earned multiple Emmy nominations for her work as executive producer of nine television court shows. Starting her career in unscripted television in the early 2000s, Jennifer joined MTV Networks (Viacom), where she produced the breakthrough dating series DisMissed. She also contributed to major live and original productions, including VH1 My Music Awards, Live @ The GRAMMYs Pre-Show (CBS & VH1), and Latin GRAMMYs Pre-Show (CBS & VH1), among other original programming. Jennifer and her husband, Byron Allen, use their global platforms to support children and families while advancing efforts rooted in economic justice, inclusion, and increasing opportunities for underserved communities through organizations like Baby2Baby, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and many more. A mother of three, Jennifer is especially dedicated to opening doors for young girls and is honored to serve on The Shaun Foundation for Girls Advisory Board.

At 63, this is how I stay grounded - moving my body, protecting my peace, and receiving little reminders of grace… one step at a time. 🌿🐾🙏🏽
Honoring Dr. King through his Sister
Sharing with you a personal connection to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. whose legacy we honor today. His sister, Dr. Christine Farris was my English teacher professor when I was a student at Spelman College.
