Niecy’s Rodeo Birthday
YEEHAW! We saddled up and showed out for Niecy Nash’s Rodeo Birthday Bash! We wore our cowboy hats and boots and had a rootin’ tootin’ good time! 🤠
Legacy Award
Lifelong friends are a blessing.
Rosalind “Roz” Brewer and I met when we were 15 years old — growing up right across the street from each other in my hometown, Detroit. We attended Cass Tech High School and Spelman College together.
I was so happy to present Roz - who is currently the Interim President of Spelman- with the “Legacy Award” at our Spelman NAASC-LA Sisters Luncheon in Los Angeles. Roz has been the CEO of Walgreens Boots Alliance, COO of Starbucks, the CEO of Sam’s Club and is currently part-owner of the Atlanta Falcons football team. A true legacy leader.
We also honored Judge Mablean Ephriam, Dr. Carliss McGhee and Ashley Jackson - all amazing women! My dear friend Vanessa Bell Calloway was our host and the incredibly talented Goapele performed for us on this beautiful afternoon.
Oscar Sunday
In honor of today’s Oscars, sharing this #throwback picture from the Red Carpet. I’ve covered 16 Academy Awards shows in my career and there is no other show that has the glamour, sophistication (and security!) as the Oscars! Preparation for the big day - whether the Pre-show red carpet interviews of nominees and performers, or interviewing celebs invited to one of the many glitzy after-parties, started weeks prior to the show with watching all the nominated movies and performances. Oscar Sunday is the culmination of awards season and once the (very) long day was over - from early morning getting glam until, sometimes 1AM, when the last party shut down -meant kicking off the shoes and finally taking a breather! Congratulations to all the nominees and looking forward to a great show! 🏆 💛
Cure Addiction Now
Such a beautiful night at the inaugural ‘Cure Addiction Now’ gala created by my dear friend Nancy Davis. So many amazing people came out to support CAV. Addiction knows no boundaries. I was given the wonderful honor of introducing singer/songwriter Siedah Garrett. Nancy, thank you, for bringing us together for such a worthy cause.

My Friend, Lisa
So proud of my dear friend Lisa Gilford who, last night, was honored with the Loren Miller “Lawyer of the Year” Award at the John M. Langston Bar Association of Los Angeles 48th Annual Installation & Scholarship Awards Gala. Lisa is a Partner at Sidley Austin and the Secretary of my nonprofit - the S.H.A.U.N. Foundation for Girls. 💜 Lisa spoke about the challenges facing the legal profession today and how we all need to push forward and fight for justice. So happy to see so many friends in the audience and the funniest host, Chris Spencer. Such a great evening. Congratulations Lisa on, literally, raising the bar! 👏🏾
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!
