We Remember
Mom’s Special Night
Happy 80th birthday, Mom!
I love you so much!
I know you didn’t want a party but, we had to celebrate the wonderful woman you are and the number of lives you have touched. God could not have blessed me with a better mother. And all the beautiful testimonies from our family and friends were so touching.
You deserve all the accolades!

Trying something new
My friends convinced me to get into their kayak for the first time this Labor Day weekend! 🚣🏾♀️ The water is about 30 feet deep in the middle of the lake and I can’t swim so made sure I had my life vest! Once I got out there, it was so peaceful and beautiful.
Beans n’ Cornbread and Ree Ree
After church today, Mom and I had brunch at Detroit-area hotspot ‘Beans n’ Cornbread’. When we finished, we noticed this picture outside the restaurant of our Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. 🙏🏾
The Day After
I woke up today still overwhelmed by the tribute to, my friend, Aretha Franklin, yesterday. My mom was watching the service at home on TV and snapped this picture of me in Greater Grace Temple. Aretha’s spirit was so palpable in the sanctuary. You just knew she was looking down and very proud. 🙏🏾
A Celebration Fit for The Queen
Today, I attended the beautiful Homegoing ceremony for my friend, Aretha Franklin. The service was held at Greater Grace Temple in Detroit.

Meeting an ICON
When you see your idol at the National Association of Black Journalists convention. As a teen, I watched Diana Lewis anchor the evening news here in my hometown Detroit. She is a LEGEND. She was one of the incredible women who set me on a path into journalism. Thank you, Ms. Lewis, for setting the bar of excellence, professionalism and integrity HIGH. You are an ICON in my eyes. 📺
