Dad and me, back in 2014, cruising down the Seine River in Paris. 🛥️ This trip was so special to me because it was the last #birthdayvacation that Dad and I took together. 🥲🙏🏾 🕊️ Watching all the #Paris2024 Olympic athletes riding down the Seine brought back so many memories! Loved seeing the Olympians, especially Team USA, waving their country flags during the Opening Ceremony! 🇺🇸 Best of luck to all the athletes!
This was our group of 15 family and friends that traveled to the Dominican Republic to celebrate my #birthday! 🎉 This year, I wanted an abundance of COLOR for our photo (last year, we did all-white). I feel blessed beyond measure to have so many surround me in love 💜 on my special day. Thank you Juan Carlos Polanco for capturing this beautiful picture! 📸
Every birthday vacation that I get to travel with my mom is truly a blessing. 🎊This year, it was touch-and-go for several days due to a health crisis and we didn’t think Mom as going to be able to come on the trip. I was a total wreck because I did not want to go without her. But, this is an example of “Won’t He do it?! Yes, He will!”! God opened a way, Mom saw some great doctors and she was able to travel!🙌🏾 You can see from her smile that she had THE BEST time! 💕 🙏🏾
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!! 🎂🎁🎉🎊 Woke up this morning in the beautiful Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 with my family and friends feeling BLESSED and HIGHLY FAVORED! 🙌🏾 This has been such a wonderful birthday vacation - I am so grateful for another trip around the sun! ☀️ I was asked…“What is my birthday wish?” Truthfully, I feel like I have every single thing that I could possibly want. There are no material items that I desire. My wish is actually for YOU. I hope you always feel LOVED. 🥰 I hope that, when you open your eyes every morning, you thank God for giving you another day. I hope you are always aware of the sanctity of Life and you live it to the fullest. My wish is that you always, Always lean towards Light and use your power for Good and to help others. 🙏🏾 Thank you for the beautiful birthday wishes! Sending you Love! 💜
I was so honored to moderate a discussion with the phenomenal ob/gyn Dr. Sharon Malone about her new book, “Grown Woman Talk: Your Guide to Getting and Staying Healthy”. This book is a “must read” because it talks candidly about how we, as women, need to take charge of our own health, especially when we hit #menopause. The evening was hosted by my dear friend Debra Lee at her beautiful home and attended by so many wonderful women - including Mayor Karen Bass. Pick up a copy of “Grown Woman Talk” for a woman you love - especially if it is YOURSELF! 💗

I’m very honored to receive the GIRL UP USA GIRL HERO Award for my work championing gender equality. My parents always taught me, “If God gives you a platform, use it to give back.” So amazing to see the incredible Girl Up girl leaders, like Kavita Rai, who was also honored for her work as a youth changemaker. When you empower a girl, she WILL change the world!
To know a father’s love is a blessing beyond measure. ❤️ Happy Heavenly Father’s Day, Daddy. 🕊️
Very honored to host a discussion last night for the 7th annual International Women’s Media Foundation’s Gwen Awards named after legendary journalist Gwen Ifill. This was a celebration of women of color leaders in national newsrooms. I deeply enjoyed hearing from this year’s winner, Tasneem Raja and 2022 Courage Award winner Cerise Castle about their work bringing truth to light. The IWMF is an organization dedicated to supporting women journalists around the world with grants, fellowships, trainings, and emergency aid. Thank you to everyone who joined us in Beverly Hills, especially fellow journalist and trailblazer Suzanne Malveaux!
“Leave no one behind”. That is the guiding principle of Maryland Governor @iamwesmoore. It was a beautiful evening with friends as we gathered to hear Gov. Moore speak about his journey and passion for helping others and always reaching across the aisle to get things done for the good of all people. He spoke about that fateful night when he got the call about the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, the rescue mission and bringing closure to the families of the victims. He believes that when you lift up those in underserved communities, it is to the benefit of everyone. He is a compassionate leader. Thank you Maria and Jeff Harleston and Mattie McFadden-Lawson and Ambassador Michael Lawson for hosting such a wonderful evening.
Empowering girls means supporting the leaders who work, tirelessly, to inspire, advocate and create opportunities for girls to reach their full potential.
That is why I’m so excited that the S.H.A.U.N. Foundation for Girls is hosting our inaugural conference, exclusively, for women who lead girl-centered nonprofits. Statistics show that nonprofits lead by women and those focusing on girls, receive a smaller portion of available funding for charities.
I created this conference to be a place where women leaders can gather, discuss issues relevant to working with girls and young women, network and share ideas about fundraising, capacity-building, collaboration and much more. “Your prayers still cover me”. A Heavenly Mother’s Day to the women in my family who were my Mom’s support system throughout my life. You have a piece of my heart. ❤️ (left to right) Grandma Curry (Dad’s mom); Mama Ashie (Mom’s mom); Mama Nonie (Mom’s step-mother) and Gloria (my step-mom). I love you and miss you dearly. You are my angels. 🕊️
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to the best mommy in the world! God truly blessed me with you! 💐 I’m also wishing all the mothers, aunties, sisters, girlfriends and all those who have “mothered” someone in their life, a BEAUTIFUL MOTHER’S DAY! 💜

#MetGala Red Carpet 2014. 🖤 I remember this being an incredible (and hectic) night in NY. The streets were cordoned off and security was so tight so we had to get there hours before the start of the event. (That’s not security behind me, that’s @ajcalloway 😉) They call it the east coast Oscars and I can see why. My dress had the longest train! I remember all the reporters had to do our interviews behind the railing and we were cramped! Even still, it was a fun seeing all the fashion. #redcarpet
